I wake up. I walk out into the hall and see Patsy lying on the couch, leafing through something on her phone.

‘ Good morning! ’ I say, in a sleepy voice.

‘ Morning! ’ Patsy answers.

Andy sits next to me and writes something in his notebook.

‘ It was stuffy in my room, ’ I say.

‘ I'll get some air conditioning, ’ he says without taking his eyes off his notebook.

‘ Thank you! ’ I say.

Andy is an assistant director. He's twenty-five. He's the first person I've talked to on set, not counting Patsy, of course. He has dark hair, brown eyes, and an athletic build. Andy is one of the friendliest people I've ever met. So we quickly found common ground, even though we have different roles in our work.

The door opens. We freeze. Nathan, our director walks into the lobby.

He's wearing sunglasses, gray shorts, a black T-shirt that says «California» on it, and sneakers. He is one of those people who is serious about the task at hand, and doesn't like things to go wrong. He looks at his phone, and in the meantime he tells us:
