A cantora, na altura com treze anos, colocava-se na esteira do recem-nascido rock’n roll piscando todavia o olho à tradição do Natal na família. Permanecido a única intérprete do trecho durante 30 anos, a Lee foi retirada do pódio pela versão Kim Wilde/Mel Smith de 1987, que se posicionou no terceiro lugar nas Hit Inglesas do ano. Outra vez presente no imaginário colectivo a versão rock da então pudica Miley Cyrus, que em 2006 capturou a atenção de milhões de ouvintes.
