Обвиняемый обвинил своего адвоката в бесчестности. Он сказал: “He is as crooked as the dog’s hind legs.” Буквально эта фраза означает: «такой же кривой, как задние ноги собаки». Здесь обыгрываются два значения слова crooked: это не только «кривой», но также «нечестный». A crook – это жулик, мошенник, то есть тот, кто пошел по кривой дорожке.
