Stephanie Strickland September 2015

Literature as “a form of happiness” (Borges), a form of knowledge, and something alive—literature capable of crossing cultural and linguistic borders in the 21st century? Oreto Doménech has discovered all this in her penetrating study of digital poetry. Her exploration of constellational systems in the V project yields precisely a close, but not a closed, reading. Digital poems are not inherently closed, and the V project has grown to include the Vniverse app for iPad in which readers draw their own constellations, map their own sky. The V project for mobile media uses the tercet structure which is accessible, but secondary, in the Shockwave V: Vniverse. A coordinate print volume, V : WaveTercets / Losing L’una (SpringGun Press), lets us “read through” the poem in one long wave as it was first written. It is my hope that constellations of Catalan digital poetry will emerge from Oreto Doménech’s pathbreaking celebration of digital poetic forms.
